Privacy Policy for Insectr

This Privacy Policy explains how Daily Labs, LLC ("Daily Labs," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use Insectr (the "App").

1. Information We Process

To provide insect identification results, Insectr processes the following information:

• Photos you choose to capture with your camera or select from your photo library.
• Basic request information needed to operate the service, such as your device language so results can be returned in the appropriate language.
• Locally stored app data on your device, including saved identification history, onboarding status, and app review prompt state.

2. How Insectr Uses Your Information

Insectr uses submitted images to analyze and generate likely insect or arthropod identifications and related educational information, such as common name, scientific name, family, habitat, diet, behavior, life cycle, confidence level, and possible alternative matches.

We use locally stored device data to preserve your identification history on your device and improve your in-app experience, such as remembering onboarding completion and review prompt timing.

3. How Images Are Processed

When you submit a photo for identification, the image is sent to Daily Labs' backend for processing. Our backend uses a third-party AI service provider to analyze the image and return a result to the App.

We do not state that identifications are guaranteed to be correct, and results should be treated as best-effort guidance only.

4. Storage and Retention

• Identification history and saved result images are stored locally on your device.
• We do not intentionally store your submitted images as part of a user account database because Insectr does not currently offer user accounts.
• Limited server-side operational logs may be created when requests are processed, such as technical request metadata and error logs.
• Our third-party service providers may temporarily process submitted images and related request content in order to provide the identification result.

5. Permissions

Insectr may request access to:

• Your camera, so you can capture photos for identification.
• Your photo library, so you can choose existing photos for identification.

You can manage these permissions in your device settings.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share submitted images and related processing data only as needed with service providers who help us operate Insectr, including hosting and AI analysis providers.

7. Your Choices

• You can stop submitting images at any time by not using the identification feature.
• You can delete saved identification entries from within the App.
• Deleting the App may remove locally stored identification history and saved images from your device.

8. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information involved in operating the App, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and update the effective date above. Your continued use of Insectr after an update means you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
